Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art that's been around for thousands of years. Its generally described as applying appropriate pressure to areas that are mapped out on the feet, hands and/or ears to correlating body parts/organs.  Pioneers of the field are Dr. William Fitzgerald (Zone Therapy) and Eunice D. Ingham, who paved the way for us to use these healing modalities and their benefits.

There is a scientific theory that maps out areas and reflexes on the feet that correlate with other organs, glands and other body parts. By applying pressure to these points, it stimulates the coreesponding organs/areas. Toxic residues can linger inside us and can frequently settle in our feet, causing an interference with enery flow in these zones and pathways.  Reflexology helps break up congested areas (either toxins or extra fibers) in the feet and allows for the body to disperse them, helping to restore proper energy flow and helps remove excess waste from the body.

There are 21,000 nerve endings in the body. 7,000 are found in the hands, another 7,000 in the feet, and the other 7,000 throughout the body with a high concentration in the ears, lips and private areas. The body sends 'signals' to these nerve endings when a certain organ or area needs stimulation or attention.  Reflexology points are sometimes tender, and are usually the points that need the most work.  Overall, it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which puts the body at a peaceful and restful state.  It is extremely relaxing!

Reflexology is never a diagnosis or a cure for any illness or condition. It does, however, complement with other natural and medical therapies such as: bodywork, massage therapy, physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc. Reflexology is a natural way to stimulate healing in the body. Treat your feet!
